The Great Distraction
by Josef Krebs

    You’re taught at home
    You’re taught in school
    You’re taught in life
    You’re taught on television
    You’re taught by your friends
    You’re taught by your lovers
    You’re taught by your enemies
    The stick and the carrot
    The stick and the carrot
To succeed to succeed to succeed
    You’re taught by your internet
    You’re taught by your advertising
You must have this you must have that
Or you will fail or you will fail
    And there will be consequence
    And there will be consequence
    Such terrible consequence
    And nobody will want you
    And nobody will need you
    And nobody will love you
    No nobody will love you
    The stick and the carrot
    The stick and the carrot
    And they’ll lock you up
    Sure they’ll lock you up
    When you fail to do
    What you’re supposed to do
    You’ll end up homeless
    You’ll end up homeless
    Or in the nuthouse
    Yes in the nut house
    Because nobody’ll want you
    No nobody’ll want you
    So you need some insurance
    Better buy that insurance
    By getting a job
    Yes getting a job
So you can purchase those things
    Yes purchase those things
    Better buy those things
    For then you’ll have everything
    Then you’ll have everything
    That’ll make you happy
    That’ll make you happy
    And make them want you
    And make them admire you
    Even envy you
    Even envy you
    So take that job
    And answer your emails
    And get on that internet
    And buy buy buy
    And buy buy buy
    And buy buy buy
    And bye bye bye
    And bye bye bye
    Bye bye
    You die
