The focus of my work is exploration of metaphor as a means to construct subtle and engaging psychological narratives. In the tradition of myth and folklore, I conceive metaphors and thread them together into a new and graphic visual language.
I want my art to be like a well-worn military wool blanket that gives you warmth, love and history but with a rough surface.
Moscow-born, both classically and conceptually trained, Alexandra Rozenman came to America from Moscow, Russia as a political refugee in 1989. Rozenman studied in Russia from the age of 5 and was a part of Moscow alternative cultural scene of the 1980’s. Her work has been represented nationally and internationally. She is a MacDowell Foundation Fellow.
